Christy Moore - Perth Concert Hall - 4 April 2007
A Review by Pete Gilmore
It is nice to see that some Traditional Music Superstars are now including Tayside on their tours and it is great to see that they are being well supported.
Last night's gig by the legend of Irish Music was two hours of complete professionalism by the complete professional. No messing around here and no such fripperies as intervals. The first six songs were completed with no time to waste on dialogue and when he did decide to say something, it was relevant to the material. Old favourites such as Bright Blue Rose, Nancy Spain and Ride On were cleverly intertwined with some new material. His new song Barrowland went down well with this audience and will surely become a regular in many sessions.
He had his usual mix of Protest, from the likes of Dylan and Woody Guthrie down to the Hamish Imlach classic, Black is the Colour. He was generous with requests and did not hesitate to change his pre-planned running order. He even allowed the audience to sing choruses on their own! ( A dangerous practice in Tayside) Accompaniment was by the highly competent Declan Sinnot and was extremely sensitive when required.
All in all a brilliant night's entertainment
