gigs past this week and gigs in the future...

Well its been a busy old week.

Tuesday night at the Tayside Young Fiddlers.

Wednesday at Blazing Fiddles. Fantastic. Their latest album Live is worth getting for the slow air Smirisary by Allan Maconald. The rest of the album is fantastic too.

Thursday Night down the fish.

By the way I came away early because of a cold. As I was leaving the whole company casually mentioned that they were not working on Friday. This kind of underhand gloating is not called for. I for one would never stoop to such a tactic. The Tshirt I have been seen in …, the one that says “by the way I’m off tomorrow” has obviously been misunderstood. It is merely relaying a message to my colleague that I will not be able to give them a lift in the morning. What I was subjected to on Thursday was completely uncalled for. I will be writing to their parents presently.

Friday Night off to the Perth Concert hall for Session a9 Jim Malcolm and Trilok Gurtu . I have to be honest and say that I was really their to hear session a9. They were brilliant. As was Jim Malcolm. Trilok Gurtu turned in a great performance. I really did not know what to expect. As a percussionist he is second to none. He had won me over completely during the encore. I would go and see him again .

More nights out to come.

Once you have all bought your tickets for the Tayside young fiddlers concert in the Wellbank hall on Saturday 15th March and the joint gig with the National school of excellence in traditional music on the Unicorn on 16th April you can save up your money to go and see Braebach (with Patsy Reid and Callam Mcrimmon) playing with Luva Anna in the Fort Bar, yes the Fort bar, on Thursday the 20th of March. Don’t miss it.

Paul

Right where's my writing paper... I've got parents to write to

the guitar on thursday on 21.03.2008. 15:46

After I heard doug play the guitar on thursday I was quite impressed at how such a small guitar projects across the pub.

It was unfortunate that Doug himself felt he could not hear it whne he was playing the thing...
