The Home of the Fisherman's Session

Welcome to the home of the Fishermans celtic music session. This site is for musicians, visitors, strangers and friends to find out where and when the music is, who's likely to be there, and what its all about. This web resource also seeks to encourage celtic folk music in Tayside and beyond. Explore the gig guide, discussion forums and music gallery. Enjoy!

New Term of Whistle Classes - Invergowrie

Whistle classes, taught by Dave Adam, start Mon 16th April, 7pm

These excellent classes have been happening for a while on a term by term basis, and have been very popular and enjoyed by all who go. Set in the Invergowrie Episcopal church hall, you get two hours of teaching every week for the term at the bargain sum of £36. Recordings and printed sheet music are also provided!

The class is provided by the Carse Association for Continuing Education: http://www.cace.org.uk

In Dave Adam, they have secured an excellent tutor, who is adept at his instruments (including whistle, flute and pipes) and who brings to the classes firm favourites of the traditional music world and some of the more modern tunes that are popular in the big folk bands of today. Indeed, many of these tunes are filtering their way into the session scene... ...tunes like Farewell to Whalley range, a Mick McGoldrick classic!

If you're interested in playing whistle, don't miss out on these classes. If you want to find out any more about the classes, post a question to the forum, and you'll get an answer soon enough! In

That's 36 quid for 8 weeks lessons, not just 2 hours!

See you there!

Come along even if you've missed the first week. Good jigs last night "Banks of the allan" and "Donnybrook fair"!
